Kenneth Whalum III – To Those Who Believe
This album was recommended to me by person of utmost importance, and I’m definitely happy to discuss this album as it is one of note. I do know Whalum, through other artists like Robert Glasper, one of my favorites and fellow rising star in the jazz scene (and co-pilot on this album.) As a listener of jazz, new and old, I like to listen for old things in the new guys, to understand what they felt was pertinent for their own sound. WHat I like about this album is the difficulty to find exact pieces and artists, Kenneth’s pulling from. It’s a fresh album, free from specific constraints of holding to one to ten idols he may have grown up with. Dope record – recommended.
Also – I apologize for the lack of posts. Very busy recently, and some odd technical issues with the layout/theme. Should be good to go now.
