Dragons 1976 – On Cortez
(I was put onto this by a couple of the good folks at Greenville, SC’s Earshot Records (on Laurens Rd., if you ever had a reason to travel to the city) – one of the best independent record stores in the Southeastern US by the way.)
It’s a very, very smooth and easy trio-styled jazz record, from start to finish. Very glossy, but not in a big recording studio way….more of a well-played, organic way. No one is trying to accomplish more than what is necessary. It might even be a bit restrained, which for me, helps with the charm. It puts out a very calm feel, something you’d listen to late at night…..relaxing after a long night out, but you can’t really sleep. Very dope record.
