Land of Talk – Cloak and Cipher
Back to some indie rock today, from a woman/revolving trio I’ve liked a lot, for some years now – since the great debut EP. Compared to the first full album, this will seem a little more “on purpose”, as in the sounds are a lot larger and more layered out than ever before. This is a good thing though, for the most part. It’s a nice change up record, from track to track….you don’t get sucked into a specific sound long enough that the songs no longer seem separate, and feels merged in tone/length – which can be an issue (see Coldplay). But this is a nice progression record. You’ll find some good tunes on here.
