John Robinson & Lewis Parker – International Summers
John actually explains the entire format and rundown of the album at the beginning of track one. The album succeeds on all fronts – it could be played anywhere, anytime, and not just for a specific audience. If there is a slight lean, I’d say it’s a bit boom-bap jazzy, which is definitely a good thing. Dope beats via Lewis, who has a really nice golden age-ish flavor to his production – worked with Ghostface on his Fishscale and More Fish releases. You get strong rhymes from JR and the Londoner Lewis – they talk about the every day shit you want to hear. No car and chick talk – just some real shit. The guests are pretty dope too. I definitely enjoyed this album. Recommended.
